On the Front Porch

(Summer)

A soft summer rain;

Sitting on the front porch —

The robins whistling.

This rainy hokku was composed by Sabishī.

The photo of watching rain from the front porch can be found here.

  1. I envy my neighbor, sitting on her front porch (for the few minutes that she can), reading, listening to the soft summer rain and songbirds. We open our windows on days like this, but it’s nothing like sitting on a porch during the rain. Hope everyone has moments like that.

    1. Thanks for sharing. We don’t have a front porch but on sunny days we like to open up the Conservatory and listen to the birds.

  2. We don’t have a porch but I know the feeling from years ago. Often I work in the garage (my workshop) with the door open and when it rains especially in the summer, it’s a happy time!
