Mid-Autumn
(Two apple-picking hokku)
Apple-picking time;
Yellow jackets buzz
The windfall.
Autumn wind;
Thud…thud…apples fall
Around the picker.
These two apple-picking hokku were written by Donna Ferrell.
The photo of the picked wild apples can be found here.
All wild apples are hybrids, so you never know what you’ll get when you plant their seeds, which makes the experience that much more enjoyable, in my opinion. I love their flavor, in general! Thanks for these applicious hokku, Donna!

I love apples, not just to eat but as a piece of the natural world. Of course, I’m biased as I was born in the Orchard County of Armagh! Lovely hokku by Donna 😊

Thanks Donna! It amazes me at this time of year the profusion of fruit on just one tree. Nature is generous! A friend of ours (on the allotment site) is sharing her bounty of plums. The tree is full of fruit and plums are carpeting the ground below too.
